Grand Prix

SVRC Grand Prix [Age Graded racing]

The Grand Prix is a competition where club members get points for running races selected as the club races-of-the-month. The points are based on each runner's time compared to the US record in that distance for their gender and age group.

The program runs from Jan to December, and the best 5 of 12 scores are used. So, for example, if a female runner completes a 10k race in 50 minutes and the US record for her age group is 36 minutes, the calculation would be 36/50=.72 times 1,000 = 720 Grand Prix points for that race.

This series permits everyone in the club the opportunity to compete with other runners and it virtually handicaps the score based on gender and age group standards.

This program promotes healthy competition among the club's membership and it gives everyone the chance to gauge their improvements.
